IRIDESCENT PINWHEEL
One of my favourite ways to paint is to select objects that initially appear simple, and the more you explore them, the more you see and appreciate the complexity. Sometimes that’s the object itself and sometimes it’s the way light plays in, on and around the surfaces. Pinwheels are a perfect example.
Whenever I’m walking my dog, I love to see pinwheels in gardens, slowly revolving in the breeze. I’m always drawn to how the one-piece folded structure creates elegant fan shapes that capture the air and also bend and reflect sunlight into a whirl of vibrant beauty. Watching them spin, you feel that immediate, uplifting, mesmerizing connection that always makes you feel like a kid again.
